We've overextended ourselves again. Due to overspending last week, we got hit with overdraft charges. Since I didn't figure those in, we're about to get hit with more. I hate being broke.
On a lighter side, I actually got something cool for being in debt. I transfered a large account balance to a new credit card, and they gave me an "upfront" reward. I'd be happy enough going from 30% interest to 10%, but they gave me a laptop, too!

A fix I'm looking into is a second job. That would be more than a one-time fix, would allow us to pay some bills, and maybe provide enough to save for a real vacation next year.

You (obviously) had on-line capabilities - and if you like the ISP the laptop uses - switch to the same on the P.C. -
You argue that selling the laptop is a temporary fix. I At least it is a fix that can put some money in your checking account. Especially with all the overdraft fees (it sounded like you DIDN'T have the cash to cover RIGHT NOW). So that would make it an immediate fix (if only temporary). If you already have a P.C. at home - and have bills to pay - NOT selling the laptop is irresponsible.
Unless, of course the money problems aren't as bad as they seem.

Money problems are bad, but I am actually taking action to improve the situation. I simply CHOOSE not to sell the laptop. If you really want to know more of the reasons, feel free to email me privately.

Roof still needs another quote. I was thinking of asking the insurance company to insure our house sans garage until we get it fixed, but not sure if they will insure only part of the property.
